Pros

You can get a lot of exposure to different skills or tasks. Many people are overworked and asked to do what multiple people would get paid to do at comparable businesses. There are a lot of good people who will pass their knowledge on to you.

Cons

The workload and expectations of doing multiple jobs will wear you down and could ruin your health. The stress is not worth it.

Pros

Interesting variety of work, good people, good work life balance, some opportunities for professional technical training.

Cons

I was part of the former AMI, and after the acquisition, a lot of the performance incentives and training programs were cut or downgraded. Very disappointed by mandatory time off without pay (2 weeks/quarter). Later changed to mandatory vacation (with pay), but saved vacation only lasts so long.

Pros

They are willing to invest in employee education. They are growing by acquisition. Atmosphere is somewhat informal and flexible. Finance department has done a terrific job of managing post-Motorola spin-off debt burden. Sales Leadership has typically been very positive with a 'can-do' attitude. They are a strong player in the discrete markets.

Cons

Rating and ranking system of 360 degree reviews can be very political. Somewhat regular waves of layoffs and frequent re-organizations-very demoralizing. Not uncommon for frequent job (lateral) changes do to frequent re-orgs. This can make it difficult to see strategic work through to completion (we all want to feel we accomplished something). SVP of HR manages upward and is rarely seen meeting with employees below leadership level positions (C-level, VPs and directors).
