Our newest Family and Community Medicine practice on Electric Road is officially open to patients! Located next-door to our VelocityCare-Starkey location, the new practice offers convenient shared services such as imaging capabilities and is the latest example of our commitment to providing primary care options close to home for our communities. Congratulations to our teams at this practice and thank you to everyone whose efforts contributed to its opening!
We are #CarilionProud of Charlene Randolph for receiving a Daisy Award! "She genuinely cares and has been very helpful on multiple ER visits. She went above and beyond to help me on the last visit when I wasn't even her patient, made sure I had everything I needed." Said one of Charlene's nominators. "Charlene went above and beyond to take care of my dad during his hospital stay. Not only tending to his medical needs but she also has the most caring and compassionate heart in any nurse we've ever met. We will never forget her and all she did for my dad and our family." Said another.
We are #CarilionProud of Jeff Mathis for receiving an Outstanding Preceptor Award! Here's what Jeff's nominator had to say about him: "Jeff precepted me as a new grad. He was kind, patient and broke things down and explained to me why things needed to be done, not just that they needed to be done. It made learning in the ICU so much better. He was able to make me feel safe, confident, and set me up for success to be on my own. Even now off of orientation I know that I can go ask Jeff a question and he is quick to explain to me what needs to be done...I wish everyone had a Jeff to learn from."
Congratulations to the Quarter Century Society at CTCH! These 13 employees with 25 or more years of service, some of whom are pictured here, were recently honored with a special luncheon. We are #CarilionProud of and grateful to each of you for your outstanding commitment to improve the health of your community.
Plastic bags, bubble wrap and bed covers can create a lot of waste in our hospitals. That's why we've developed a soft plastics recycling partnership with Trex, which donates one bench for every 500 pounds of soft plastics recycled at Carilion. We're proud of our employees who have helped us recycle more than 16,500 pounds of soft plastics so far.
We are #CarilionProud of Peyton Smith for receiving an Outstanding Preceptor Award! Here's what Peyton's nominator had to say about her: "Peyton is a professional, caring, empathetic RN. She goes above and beyond for every patient and peer. If Peyton does not know the answer to a question she will find out for you...She was thorough and precise in teaching Carilion's values, goals and policies." Congratulations, Peyton!
We are #CarilionProud of Patricia Coloton for receiving a BEE Award! Here's what Patricia's nominator had to say about her: "Have you ever just met someone that is just so thoughtful, caring, always has a positive outlook kind of person? Well I have. She has gone above and beyond on multiple occasions so that I was taken care of properly on her shift...I will never forget the great care that she provided during my stay.
