Our electronics recycling event was a big success with 750 cars coming through and an estimated 30,000 pounds of materials collected. Safely disposing of these materials keeps our communities healthy and safe by diverting electronic waste from the landfills, which if not disposed of properly, could lead to air, water and soil pollution. Stay tuned for more recycling events in other areas this spring!

The CNRV Surgical Care Unit staff volunteered to help restore the T.G. Howard Center in Pulaski County. Staff participated with the demolition which included using sledgehammers to knock down walls, and a chimney! They also removed a roof and hauled off debris. Following renovation, the T.G. Howard Center will provide financial literacy programs, health education, job recruitment, as well as a youth academy and recreational area. T.G. Howard Center's goal is "to service the community, before serving ourselves" which pairs perfectly with Carilion's Mission to "improve the health of the communities we serve." Construction continues at the Local Impact for Tomorrow (LIFT) Center building at Fallon Park Elementary School. We're one step closer to making the LIFT Center a reality at the school and in the neighborhood! The LIFT Center will open in early 2022. The Center will provide pediatric health, dental health, mental health and support services to Fallon Park school children. In the future, the Center will serve the broader southeast Roanoke community.

Carilion Clinic Family Dentistry has opened at 1111 S. Jefferson St. in Roanoke! This new, family-friendly practice is conveniently located near CRMH and CRCH and offers 10 patient rooms. Patients of all ages are welcome!
As we begin the week, we wanted to make sure you saw this uplifting segment from yesterday’s TODAY Show. On Saturday afternoon, we learned that our late colleague Douglas Martin would be featured in the show’s “Life Well Lived” segment on Sunday morning. Mr. Martin certainly epitomized the life well lived, and we are grateful that the rest of the country got to hear about his life. He continues to be an example for us all.
