Our Franklin Memorial Hospital team completed Franklin County's first-ever robotic surgeries today! Their three cases were performed on the daVinci® Robot in one of the hospital's newly renovated operating rooms. Robotic surgical systems like the da Vinci® allow surgeons to use their skills in the most effective way possible, so that patients can experience benefits that include reduced pain, shorter hospital stays and smaller scars.
Three new Ronald McDonald recycling houses are now ready to collect can tabs for a cause thanks to team champions at Tanglewood, ION and the Cancer Center/Rehab building, plus our collaborators at Robins & Morton! Teams across our system have been making the collection/recycling program a big success, raising funds to support RMHC of the Southwest.

Congratulations to our team at the Plantation Road Family Medicine location in Blacksburg, who celebrated completed renovations with a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week. 🎉 We were able to add 12 patient exam rooms and welcomed four new clinicians to the team.

With patient care as the focus, nearly 200 Cardiovascular Institute staff spent months training at our Center for Simulation, Research and Patient Safety for numerous CVI Skills Days. It was an opportunity for hands-on learning, and mock situations where staff could practice in a controlled and "real life" scenario while receiving constructive feedback. Here's to setting goals and achieving them! Our team at the Center for Simulation, Research and Patient Safety set a goal to recycle 1,000 pounds and they did it in just one year. 💪♻️ This was primarily made up of cardboard, plastics, paper and soda cans from the building's operations. Way to go team!

A warm welcome to the 84 nurse externs who onboarded with us this in June to begin participating in our S.O.A.R. externship program! They come from more than 15 nursing programs and make up our largest cohort to date. It's so exciting to see these future nurses putting their school studies into practice in a real-life clinical setting!
