As we approach January 16th, we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s victories in combating racial inequality through nonviolent resistance. Widely regarded for being an influential civil rights leader, Dr. King led marches and parades throughout the segregated south in the 1950s and 1960s to end racial segregation in public transportation, public schools, and workplaces - calling for racial equality. He was also a prominent speaker - his words leaving not only an impact in terms of equality but on society at large. Let us not only remember his impact on our country but also strive to act in our lives with compassion and understanding to help continue the promotion of Dr. King’s message.
