Check out all that Halloween spirit in the San Diego office!
Kleinfelder’s Edmonton, Alberta office got in the Halloween spirit with a pumpkin carving contest. Before carving pumpkins, each team had to conduct a safety assessment to decrease the risk of potential injuries from occurring. Taking safety to the next level, were two teams that showed up in PPE – fully protected and ready to carve!
Kleinfelder volunteers from our Mount Dora, FL Environmental Permitting & Planning Team participated in a lake cleanup at Hickory Point Park on Lake Harris. Kleinfelder was invited to be a guest lecturer for the Brigham Young University (BYU) ASCE Student Chapter. Presenting to nearly 200 BYU students, the Kleinfelder team focused on geotechnical engineering and construction materials engineering and testing services as well as gave students a glimpse into the work Kleinfelder does for transportation, water, energy, and private infrastructure projects. The presentation was well received, with high levels of engagement from the audience. Positive feedback also came in the form of Snaps (on Snapchat) from BYU students, with the initial Snap stating, “These guys are the coolest, I want to work for them!”
The City of Boston continues to advance climate resilience initiatives with the recent adoption of the Coastal Flood Resilience Design Guidelines. The new design guidelines apply to existing and future developments, ensuring buildings are built or adapted to withstand the flooding risks posed by sea level rise and storm surge. As part of the consultant team led by Utile, Inc., Kleinfelder was integral in the development of the Guidelines, providing architectural, engineering, and planning support for technical analyses, including mapping products, resiliency strategy recommendations, zoning review and guidance, and support for building type case studies.
Jon Amdur, Kleinfelder Sr. Technical Manager, was recently published in CIO Online. His article discusses the challenges and benefits of using remote sensing techniques, such as Unmanned Aerial Systems, for data collection and how the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the analysis of data would lead to marked improvements in quality, consistency, cost efficiency, and inspection safety.
