🗓️ SAVE THE DATE - October 29-31, 2024! The MIT Lincoln Laboratory A2/AD Systems and Technology Workshop provides an overview of the anti-access/area denial (A2/AD) challenges facing the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community. The workshop examines systems, tactics, and technologies to counter these emerging threats across a range of domains. Mission areas covered by the workshop include base and fleet defense, contested airspace, space control, cyber warfare, ISR architectures and systems, communications, and undersea warfare.
In honor of hashtag#AANHPIHeritageMonth, we were thrilled to host University of Massachusetts Lowell Chancellor Julie Chen as our keynote speaker at the Laboratory's annual AANHPI luncheon event. Thank you to our Pan Asian Laboratory Staff Network (PALS) for creating opportunities like these for our community to come together to celebrate and reflect on the vital contributions of AANHPIs in hashtag#STEM.
✨ Meet Nicholas Hardy ✨ Nicholas is a Systems Engineer in the Optical and Quantum Communications Technology Group. His work mostly spans the theory and systems side (math, computer simulation, and system design), but spent much of 2022 and 2023 in the lab and at field sites to demonstrate lasercom between a helicopter and an underwater buoy. “I’ve come to appreciate the responsibility we have at the Laboratory to provide analysis, guidance, and technology for national defense, and the role that I can play in supporting that mission,” he says.
With supportive colleagues and the ability to work on a wide range of projects at the Laboratory, Paula Countouris '12, MEng '18 shares how its allowed her to continue learning long after graduating from MIT.

As part of Lincoln Laboratory’s series of hashtag#blackhistorymonth events, members of our community volunteered at the The Greater Boston Food Bank, the largest hunger-relief organization in New England. Thank you to the Greater Boston Food Bank for hosting us and Lincoln Laboratory’s Black Experience and Cultural Organization Network (BEACON) for organizing.

In honor of hashtag#WomensHistoryMonth, we’re recognizing Nancy Holway (pictured right) whose early work in computer programming helped carry out the analytical work for the design of radar systems for detections and trajectory prediction of intercontinental ballistic missiles. She investigated the statistical programs of radar detection and measurement, the SAGE height-finding problem, and the Army’s program of detection and defense against low-flying aircraft in battlefield areas. Nancy spent her entire career, 37 years, at the Laboratory. hashtag#MITLLhistory

Lincoln Laboratory has contributed to the nation’s and the world’s technical knowledge base through the patents issued for its technologies. Laboratory technical innovations licensed to industry have enabled many commercial-sector applications, from air traffic management systems to semiconductor processing to biological-agent sensors.
