✨Be Brave. Be Bold. Be Daring. ✨ What an incredible, inspiring, and thought-provoking Massachusetts Conference for Women last month! In addition to this year’s extensive career and leadership-focused breakout sessions, the conference featured terrific speakers like Dr. Joy Buolamwini, Jacinda Arden, Margaret Atwood, and America Ferrera. With the support of the Lincoln Laboratory Women’s Network (LLWN), we were thrilled to have over 200 Lincoln Laboratory staff members in attendance this year! hashtag#LifeatMITLL hashtag#professionaldevelopment hashtag#womeninSTEM
Over 50 middle school girls visited Lincoln Laboratory to participate in the Girls’ Innovation Research Laboratory (G.I.R.L.) Forensic Science workshop, a program where students get hands-on experience with programming and engineering. In this recent workshop, students analyzed their handwriting and fingerprint samples, used chromatography to analyze different ink samples, microscopes to study hair and fabrics, and chemistry to identify various substances. Thanks to our Laboratory staff and sponsors DoD STEM and Air and Space STEM Outreach, for a successful event!

In partnership with OUTbio and MIT's The Engine, MIT Lincoln Laboratory was pleased to host OUTbio’s November social event! With over 200 people in attendance, the event was full of wonderful networking opportunities with biotech professionals in the Greater Boston area. Laboratory staff and representatives from the Biotechnology and Human Systems Division were thrilled to attend and share more about the great R&D work being done at Lincoln Laboratory.
Last week, the Lincoln Laboratory Veterans Network (LLVETS) hosted the 13th Annual Veterans Day Recognition Event. We thank Rear Admiral Robert Gaucher, Director, Strategic Integration, N2/N6T, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, for joining us this year as our guest speaker. At the Laboratory, we are proud to have nearly 400 veterans working with us in our community. We thank them all for their sacrifice and service to our country.
Eric Swanson, an innovator who worked at MIT Lincoln Laboratory for 16 years, is one of three research colleagues who were awarded the National Medal of Technology and Innovation by President Joe Biden at a White House ceremony on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. Swanson received the honor alongside David Huang and James Fujimoto for the invention of optical coherence tomography, now a standard of care for diagnosing sight-threatening diseases. https://ow.ly/CpbA50Q4ztS
