We caught up with Zach Tucker, our Director of Sustainability for a behind-the-scenes look at what sustainability means at Maple Leaf Farms. Sustainability wasn’t a career path Zach set out to follow, it was a calling that emerged through years of experience across live production, QA, and HR. “I saw an opportunity to put real teeth to something that’s always been part of our culture,” he shared. “Sustainability isn’t just what we do it’s who we are.” One of Zach’s proudest accomplishments is partnering with a down garment manufacturer to audit and enhance Maple Leaf Farm’s feather processing practices—an example of turning a byproduct into a valuable, responsibly sourced good. “It showed we don’t just talk about sustainability, we live it, every day, across every part of our business.” That commitment continues today as Maple Leaf Farms implements robust data tracking tools to better monitor environmental impact, from electricity and gas use to long-term emissions goals. We’re also revamping our company report to better tell the story of our people, our places, and our purpose. From Zach’s extensive involvement on local and state boards to the family’s charitable giving program, Maple Leaf Farms is committed to sustaining more than just natural resources—we’re sustaining our community. “We truly believe in being good neighbors,” Zach says. “Our leadership lives here, works here, and cares deeply about the community. When we say we’re a family company, we mean it.”

Celebrating World Conservation Day with Jason Glenn: 18 Years of Sustainable Impact at Maple Leaf Farms At Maple Leaf Farms, sustainability isn’t just a program — it’s part of who we are. Just ask Jason Glenn, our Sustainability and Distribution Manager, who has been making an impact here for the past 18 years. Jason’s journey with Maple Leaf Farms started with a desire to return to his Indiana roots, but it was our values that truly sealed the deal. “When I read the company’s vision and value statement, it really hit me. I felt like I could make a difference here — and that’s held true every single year.” What started as a supply chain role has evolved into leading sustainability efforts across the company. From reducing energy use with motor replacements and relighting projects to implementing 100% recyclable packaging materials, Jason has helped embed sustainability into every part of our operations. “We’re not just recycling. We’re rethinking — using data, improving processes, and making smarter decisions that serve both the planet and our people.” Jason and the team recently adopted new software to track and measure sustainability metrics, preparing for future regulations and identifying areas of opportunity. “We’re staying proactive because doing the right thing — even when it’s hard — has always been part of who we are.” On World Conservation Day and every day, we’re proud of team members like Jason who help us grow responsibly — and lead by example.

A small gesture, a big thank you. Sometimes a simple “thank you” goes a long way, and that’s exactly what our leaders had in mind when they passed out lunches to team members across all shifts last week. From early mornings to late nights, every meal was a chance to connect and show appreciation for the hard work each team member puts in to keep everything moving. These shared moments brought smiles, laughter, and a reminder of what makes Maple Leaf Farms special, which is a balance of fun and fulfillment. Whether it’s a team lunch or a daily win, we’re proud to foster a workplace where people feel valued, connected, and fulfilled.
