Each year, the Maryland Department of Health program recognizes employers demonstrating a deep commitment to associate wellbeing in the workplace. Through wellbeing leadership, local wellbeing committee participation, and advocacy, we strive to create healthy, caring, and nurturing work cultures for all of our associates. Services like mental health and wellness coaching, career support, physical health initiatives, child and elder care, and more are fully-integrated into workplaces systemwide via the MedStar Health Center for Wellbeing. These important resources are available to each of our more than 35,000 clinical and non-clinical associates. Yesterday, MedStar Washington Hospital Center became the sixth hospital in the MedStar Health system to join an exclusive group of the nation’s hospitals when it achieved the Magnet® designation for excellence in nursing. Known as the “gold standard” for nursing, Magnet recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) is the highest and most prestigious nursing distinction a healthcare organization can achieve in the United States.
