Meet today's #PrismaHealthHero. Like so many other team members, Antine Stenbit, MD, has had to “come out of my comfort zone” to be ready to fight this pandemic. The pulmonary and critical care physician, who is also a clinical associate professor of medicine, says she has done “a wider variety of tasks during these weeks than I could have imagined even a month ago. There have been great times of creativity and challenge physically, emotionally and intellectually so far.” Dr. Stenbit has been outspoken in the attempt to keep the community educated about this “invisible enemy.” “It may not seem real, and it may not have made a personal impact on you yet, but at some point it will.” She wants the community to know that “Prisma Health is prepared. The creativity and ingenuity internally and with our community partners has been exciting to see. The teamwork has been amazing.” #PrismaHealthHeroes
Across Prisma Health, nurses and other front-line team members are shaving off their beards in the fight against COVID-19. Because certain types of facial hair can impact the effectiveness of face masks, team members are reaching for their razors to ensure they are properly protected. This also protects patients and helps to slow the spread of infection. A few of our team members shared with us how they #shavetosave! Greg Hair, director of nursing for emergency services at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital, and Scot Bozio, nurse manager at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, both show off fresh faces for the health and safety of themselves and others. If you’re also on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic and are shaving to meet CDC guidelines, or if you’re a community member shaving in solidarity, share your images below and use #shavetosave!

“Everybody can be great…because anybody can serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.” – Martin Luther King Jr. Our team members frequently engage in acts of service, whether through the compassionate care they deliver every day, or through the time they carve out from their busy schedules to give back to the community through volunteering. Below are some of the photos from our team members volunteering throughout the year. We are also grateful for the many people who choose to volunteer in our hospitals. From staffing information desks to offering a smile and a kind word, they truly make a difference to our patients. If you are interested in volunteering at Prisma Health, learn more here:
