Recently, a group of volunteers from Summit Consulting helped with meal preparation at SOME (So Others Might Eat), a nonprofit organization that helps those dealing with poverty and homelessness in Washington, DC. The SOME Dining Room provides two hot, nutritious meals every day of the year to anyone who needs it—no questions asked. The event was organized by our Philanthropy Committee, and we were honored to serve our community!

Leadership is more than just a word at Summit Consulting. We think of it as taking action to make the world a better place, whether we're doing that by crafting deliverables for clients or doing data science analyses. For Summit, though, being a leader also means taking care of your community and sharing kindness. We recognize that this kind of leadership is especially important now due to the widespread need caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. To make a difference in our community this holiday season, Summit Consulting has donated $5,000 to the following three nonprofits: - Real Food For Kids, which provides nourishing grab-and-go meals to schoolchildren and their families - Food & Friends, which delivers nutritionally tailored, delicious meals to the doorsteps of clients with life-threatening illnesses like cancer and HIV/AIDS - Central Union Mission, which provides shelter, meals, and essential services like medical care to in-need individuals and at-risk populations

“It takes a village to raise the next generation of data scientists,” says Summit founding partner Albert Lee, PhD. “Summit is proud to be part of the data science ecology, sponsoring a capstone project at Virginia Tech. We have been so impressed with the capstone project team—both its technical capabilities and ability to understand the business case.”

Each summer, Summit Consulting accepts a group of 10-15 talented and motivated Summer Associates (Interns). Unfortunately, limitations from COVID-19 meant that Summit and all its Summer Associates would be required to go virtual. Despite this unexpected change, our Summer Associate program was an overwhelming success. Each morning, our Summer Associates logged on from across the country, completing valuable work and asking important questions with a variety of Summit teams. As part of their program, the Summer Associates collaborated on a Lunchroom Project to celebrate their experiences. Together, they created an awesome video which showcases their summer at Summit as well as Summit Consulting's core values.

Summit’s Philanthropy Committee organized another successful Thanksgiving food drive this year for S.O.M.E (So Others Might Eat), an interfaith, community-based organization that exists to help the poor and homeless of our nation's capital. This year, our employees showed their support by filling 17 large bins to the brim with Thanksgiving food and other non-perishable food items. These donations will help give our DC neighbors the opportunity to enjoy hearty Thanksgiving meals. Way to go, team!
