"Our work essentially involves taking a holistic approach to make sure that everyone in the client's care team, including the primary care physician and community clinicians, is on the same page. A lot of our members are elderly, and they tend to really enjoy talking to us. That sets a tone for all the touchpoints as we help them meet their goals and optimize their health." -VNSNY social worker Nusheg B.

Celebrating our VNSNY Social Workers Social worker Entrateca R., who supervises one of the Comprehensive Care Management teams for VNSNY Community Mental Health Services, compares social work with fixing a car. "With a car, you have to be able to analyze the problem and come up with a solution. It's the same with social work: you listen to your client, then you figure out a solution. You also have to be flexible and open-minded--because sometimes what you assumed was the problem might not be the issue at all."
