Each year on March 30, we take time to honor and recognize the many contributions of our physicians as we celebrate National Doctors' Day. Our doctors are the backbone of our mission to care for our community like family. From routine check-ins through our Clinic Network to complicated robotic surgeries, caring for patients during a hospital stay and numerous places in between, they're dedicated to quality patient care with a compassionate touch. THANK YOU to the doctors in every department across Valley for all that you do to care for our patients.

March is National Nutrition Month, a way to focus attention on the importance of making informed food choices and preventing malnutrition. This year's theme is Discover the Power of Nutrition. Everyday our inpatient and outpatient registered dietitians and make a difference in our community members' lives through their work. Not just anyone can call themselves a registered dietitian. To attain this title, one must complete a master's degree, a year-long internship, and pass the difficult registration exam. What is even more impressive, our registered dietitians and dietetic tech have over 200 years of experience combined and apply that nutrition knowledge every day to help our patients! We are honored to be the first of only four organizations nationwide to earn the designation as a Center of Excellence in Nutrition and Dietetics, a distinction that reflects our leadership and commitment to exceptional nutrition care.
Congratulations to Madeleine Murfin-Bond, an RN on 3N, for winning the DAISY award! Madeleine's nomination reads: In my 14 years of working in the medical field, I've encountered many dedicated professionals but rarely someone as passionate, thoughtful and deeply compassionate as Maddy. Recently we had a patient who was scheduled to transition to hospice care the following day. Without being asked, Maddy took the beautiful initiative to take the patient outside to feel sunshine one last time. That simple but profound gesture captured the essence of true nursing, kindness, humanity and connection. Her act of compassion left a lasting impression on all of us and more importantly brought a moment of peace and joy to someone in their final hours. Kudos to Maddy for her incredible heart and the joy she brings to patient care. She is a shining example of what it means to be a nurse.
