For students there are no added benefits included when working for the university. You are only paid minimum wage.

It provides health insurance, and quite competitive salary. Working with students is fun and provide opportunity to learn for yourself.

One of the few remaining true pension plans, though per-employee contribution seems to be going up each year.

As an intern you don't really get much benefits besides experience so you should not expect too much in terms of packages

Health Insurance is top notch. If you have another offer. Please consider this as an option. You have UC Care, an Anthem PPO to an of the UC's research top research hospitals. You also have the option Kaiser and Healthnet PPOs. The only thing that is not as competitive is the Pension plan. UC has pushed Deferred Compensation (with matching) to offset the cost of the older pension plans. The option for pension is still there but you must work at least five years to be vested. If you don't plan on staying for five years in the UC system, then opt for DC.

Good compensation, specially if you have family living with you. You paid very low amount to cover your spouse and kids.
