I applied to a job posting and had an initial conversation with a member of the Recruiting team. Overall, it seemed to go really well, although it was a pretty surface-level conversation (as most calls like this are). However, they did seem interested in pursuing next steps and mentioned they would follow-up shortly.
About a week later, I was told that the position was "paused" for the foreseeable future and we wouldn't be continuing the process. Huge bummer, but it happens. However, the position continued to be re-posted to LinkedIn. I followed-up to see if things had changed (I was very, very interested in joining Airtable) and was promptly told "no."
Well, a brief glance at LinkedIn shows that a handful of very similar positions have been filled in the months following the position being "paused," despite my Recruiter telling me that I would be contacted if the role reopened. I understand that things can change quickly and you can't always follow up with everyone, but I guess it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth knowing that I wasn't really given a fair shot at the job. I can handle a rejection, but this is the type of thing that makes your eyes roll into the back of your head.
