      No7 Advisor Interview

      Sep 30, 2016
      Anonymous employee
      London, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Boots (London, England) in Sep 2016

      Interview

I'm writing about my experience as when I looked myself I could not find anything to help me! I applied for this job online through boots, there was the first online assessment which I passed then a second one which I also passed leading me to have an in store 'selection event' with the no7 regional manager. The online assessments mostly consisted of questions based on situations that may occur. That same week I was invited to attend a selection event at the boots store with no7 regional manager., I was told in the email to dress in smart black clothing as I would be on the shop floor for some time. I arrived 15 mins early at the no7 counter just to have a little look around, there was myself and 2 other women there for the event and it was explained that there had also been an event that morning with 3-4 ladies also. The no7 manager greeted us and we went up to an office room where she got to know us a little and she had bought 5 no7 products up from the store, explained what they were and that when we were going down on the shop floor we would be sent out 'fishing' for customers to do a mini make over on using the selected products. It wasn't very formal and was extremely relaxing, manager very lovely. We went down on to the shop floor and took turns going out to fish for our customers, those of us that weren't were with the manager showing her what we thought needed changing about the displays, how it could be improved, talking to current staff etc. Still all very laid back. The other 2 girls managed to get customers back for their mini make overs and I absolutely panicked when I didn't. I asked people but no1 wanted to come so rather than being pushy I just said Thankyou enjoy your day. At the last minute I managed to make a sale, a lady looking for a lipstick at the rimmel make up stand I pursuaded to try the no7 brand instead and helped her to find a colour that suited her. Was well chuffed! One thing I will say is having GREAT product knowledge is a must. I knew a lot about their products from using them all the time and I feel it helped me greatly and to have a real passion for beauty also. After this we were taken back up to the office room where we were told we would hear back that evening. An hour later I had a phone call to congratulate me on passing that stage and inviting me 2 days later for a "store approval" with the boots store manager. I had no idea what this meant and I tried to google and found nothing. So Saturday morning I again dressed smart got there 10 minutes early and was greeted by the store manager, she took me up to the staff waiting room where I waited for 5 minutes and then was called through to an office where there was the store manager and the boots beauty manager. It was an 'interview' to get to know more about me and to see that I would be suitable to be working in their store and that I would fit in with their staff. This time there were interview based questions but it was still informal and relaxing. Questions like what are you strengths and weaknesses? What previous jobs have you had working with customers? How would you work as a team? How would you reach your weekly target if mid week you were falling behind? I haven't had many jobs so thought my non experience could let me down. I'll be honest I went into that interview completely clueless as to what was going to be asked, so I was just honest, if there was something I was unsure how to answer I told them. Honesty sometimes really is the best policy. I was told that they had more people to interview over the course of the week and I'd hear back by the end of the week or a week and a half. 6 days later I had a phone call offering me the position and I'm ecstatic I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry! I'm expected to start in a week or so and I really can't wait!! I hope this will help others looking for the same :) good luck!

      Interview

2 part interview, the first part of the interview you are on the shop floor they are marking you on your skills on how confident you are to approach a customer in the store and bring them back to store, make sure to try and get someone back that is what they are looking for, they will ask you to put some makeup on the customer they are not marking your makeup skills they want too see you won’t have a problem with approaching customers and bringing them back to counter. If u pass this part of the interview they will then ask you back and do a formal interview they ask a lot of questions about what would you do in scenarios.
