      Accounting Success Manager Interview

      Jan 10, 2023
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at FloQast in Jan 2023

      Interview

      1) I'm a CPA and applied through the General Resume Submit on the Floqast website. Just exploring what roles are available with my background. Recruiter reached out about an Accounting Success Manager role. 2) First interview was with a recruiter. She asked about my background and provided an overview of the role. This was a good conversation, felt like I learned a lot about the role which was important because as a CPA I was not familiar was this type of role. 3) I then had to take the Criteria Cognitive Aptitude Test (CCAT). I was emailed an online link and it took about 30 minutes to complete. Half of the test were questions to test verbal, math, logical, and spatial awareness skills. The other half was a personality test. Not sure how common it is for an employer to ask a candidate to take a test like this. 4) Second round interview was with an Accounting Success Manager Team Lead. The Team Lead gave no introduction or background on himself. Asked me to walk me through my resume and then had a few follow up questions. He then allowed a bit of time for me to ask questions. 5) There were red flags in my interview with the Team Lead. One, he did not really seem to try to sell me on the role at all. I had applied through a General Resume Submit and don't have experience in Customer Support or Sales. Two, the recruiter in my 1st round interview had told me that there was no "true selling" in the role. I asked the Team Lead to confirm this, and he responded "well, everything is sales". Three, he mentioned that my book of business would be 100 clients. The recruiter had told me the book of business would be 80 clients. That 25% difference seems pretty large. Also, it seems like that's something that the company should be on the same page about. Four, I asked if he thought there was something that the company could improve upon. He responded that if a company didn’t have anything to improve upon, then that wouldn’t be a good place to work at because the company wasn’t being honest. He then said that he was part of a committee that was currently working on 10 things to improve. But he never provided an example of what was being improved. Five, he said that a 100% renewal rate was expected and that you would get “dinged” for churn. I’m not too familiar with customer support and sales, but a 100% renewal rate seems unrealistic. 6) Beyond the red flags, I did not get a good vibe from the Team Lead. Seemed like he would say anything just to close a sale. 7) The Team Lead mentioned that next steps would include interviews with higher level management and also an exercise involving giving a presentation. 8) Did not get invited to the next round. I was planning to turn them down anyways. I don’t think the company was entirely honest about what the role entailed. I also don’t think they seriously considered someone with my background – I think they are looking for people with actual customer support and sales experience. 9) These were the compensation figures they provided me for this role: $70-$90k salary, 15-20% quarterly bonus for hitting certain metrics, ISO stock options (4 year period, 25% vest after 1 year, then vest every month).
