I applied to three jobs within the company, Mechanical engineer, R&D engineer, and robotics engineer. I had an initial phone screen about 2 weeks after having an employee put in a referral for me. During the phone screen I was informed I was only interviewing for the mechanical position, even though I believe my skills were better fitted for the R&D position. The phone screen itself was fairly straight forward, just talking about my past experience, and appeared to go well. A few days after I was given a generic email response saying I wasn't being further pursued as a candidate. This was surprising as I've worked on experimental/R&D 3D printers in the past, and have a decent amount of applicable knowledge (designing other galvo systems). After multiple follow up emails asking for more specifics on why my application wouldn't be further pursued I received no response. Although Formlabs insists you create an online portfolio when applying, after looking at my portfolios view stats I could tell only 1 of my many projects had been viewed.
