I applied online. I interviewed at Formlabs in Feb 2021

      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Formlabs (Boston, MA) in Nov 2021

      Interview

The interview started with a 30 minute conversation with a recruiter from Formlabs. The second part of the interview was a 30-45 minute conversation with the head of the department. After that it is required that you complete a project relevant to the position you are interviewing for. You are asked to spend no longer than 3 hours completing the project. The next part of the interview is explaining your project to the head of the department and another employee within the department (about 45 minutes) After my final interview I did not hear back. I had to reach out to the recruiter after 2 weeks to receive some feedback (Had I not, I don’t think I would have ever heard back) The entire process took 8 weeks. Most negative interview experience I have ever had. Usually when a candidate goes through such a long interview process, the hiring manager at least has the decency and respect to let the candidate know if they decided not to move forward with them and THANK THEM FOR THEIR TIME. Proper interview etiquette is very important, especially since this was an employee referral. It makes your employees look bad as well, although judging from most of these reviews, formlabs does not seem to have much respect for their employees either. I would be much less annoyed had the process not taken so long, or had I actually received a response. Make your interview process faster and don’t ask candidates to do a three hour project if you are not going to be diligent about responding in a timely manner.

      Question 1

What types of opportunities do you see for the future of Formlabs (regarding events)

      Interview

After the entire interview process with Formlabs, I would never work for this company. It is very clear they do not care about people's time. Not only did I have to do the usual 3 round interview, but was also required to submit a Marketing Plan/Project Plan. This two-part project stated it would only take 3 hours. Nope. It took 5-6. It's a two part project! After this part, I was asked to give my references and heard all positive feedback and was told I was in the last round and a "frontrunner", then was completely blindsided with a rejection with little to no clarification why. I reached out to the Hiring Manager with no response for some explanation. I cannot believe Formlabs would treat a candidate this way.. just extremely inconsiderate and and selfish to someone's time. I can only assume this is how they treat employees (as you can see from their Glassdoor reviews). It seems like to me, just from interviewing and interacting with this company, it is EXTREMELY chaotic and unorganized. No one has their act together. I also think giving out a project to see how people "work" is entirely antiquated. Just call it what it is: free labor. There are so many red flags from Formlabs when interviewing, I am glad i dodged a bullet.
