      Interview

One of the longest/most frustrating processes I've ever encountered. Was contacted by one of their recruiters for an engineering positions. Recruiter went through what I could expect in very general terms. I was somewhat wary of taking a long process on and made this point clear with them, but Formlabs has a good shine/hype so I wanted to see what came next. About a week after this initial screen, I had a call with someone from the team I'd be on, just a thirty minute or so call where we talked about my background. I didn't hear back from them for another week; thought initially that they had just forgotten so I pinged them back. Got sent a take home technical exercise that I should complete and send back, with the goal of spending no more than 3 hours on it (it wasn't timed). After another couple of days, I was contacted to set up a video interview to discuss my solution, this went pretty smoothly and it was nice to talk to some clearly competent engineers. A couple of days after that, I was told that they wanted me to come on site to meet their team and for more rounds of interviews. They had a lot of trouble setting up a date for me to come in, it was rescheduled two times with various excuses. Finally, about 2-3 weeks later, I went on site (am out of state and made time to travel), for several rounds of white board with three different sets of people. I didn't have any trouble with this round, it was like a brainstorming session and I thought I did well. At the end I met with the CEO who I'm not sure actually wanted to be there. He was very disengaged, it wasn't really a conversation, he was just on his laptop the whole time and would ask me questions from time to time. They gave me a tour after, and yeah, the facilities seem like a dream workshop which definitely got me excited even after some red flags from the interview process. I was then told that I'd be hearing from them shortly (end of the week). Finally, after another two weeks of very sporadic/little communication, they sent me an offer that was low; we had discussed a range in the first stages and this wasn't even close to the bottom of my range. I was pretty frustrated and declined. Technically, this seems like a really solid place with lots of smart people, but I can't imagine what it's like to work there if I had to put in that much effort into an interview process. Overall, from the date I was first contacted by the recruiter to when the offer came, it was close to three months.

      Interview

Basic interview question for an entry level engineer. I really enjoyed the conversation and they asked good questions about my experience. Overall a fun process and learned a lot about what the company is building and looking for.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Formlabs (Boston, MA) in Jan 2024

      Interview

Interview process is way too long for a very low paying job. They think they are some top 1% Bay area company and people are dying to work for them. Honestly just don’t keep high hopes, keep stepping through the process and if u you get it you get it. They don’t seem to value their own time.

Lengthy but worth it. I interviewed 6 or 7 times total but was very happy with the outcome. All were virtual except for the last one so that helped ease the burden.
