HR is Terrible

Pros

There's very little that is positive about this company.

Cons

HR is terrible. This is a political, bureaucratic and backstabbing department that is incompetent and not helpful. Everyone at the company has to do reviews twice a year; a complete waste of cycle and time. HR is an organization that is supposed to help retain and recruit talents. How do you do that when your own organization has nearly 100% turnover rate? It snoops on its own employee emails and chats. One HR employee made sure everyone knows that she's leaving because the organization is incompetent and dishonest.

A10 Networks values and considers employee feedback. We continuously listen to our employees and execute initiatives to create a productive, transparent, collaborative and empowering work environment. We would like to specifically address your concerns and comments. The human resource organization at A10 Networks is committed to fostering an environment that enables the Company to attract and retain talent. During my two year tenure at the Company we have invested in rebuilding the human resources team to support our efforts in attracting and retaining talent. Some employees have difficulty keeping in step with the intended rate of change. In our effort to deliver employee and manager feedback, and monetary recognition more frequently our performance evaluation and bonus program was changed from annually to semi-annually. Our CEO and management have an open door policy and each employee has the opportunity to openly and honestly communicate at any time. Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. Sincerely, Laurie Buzzell Vice President, Human Resources

Pros

- Free dinner (so you can work late). - Lots of new grades (so experienced guys can be promoted to management positions easier).

Cons

- No product roadmap, no vision. Engineering executive team has no idea how & what to invest. - No niche, only MeToo products. - Always unrealistic product development schedule. With this kind of schedule you can expect the quality. - Old school management + micromanagement. No trust, no respect. - Engineering executive team has no clue how to set priority. Get burned out easily. - Medium pay. Startup workload. - Too cheap to imagine. - Cannot attract talent, or even retain talent.

A10 Networks values and considers employee feedback. We are very surprised to read your review about your experience at the Company. We continuously listen to our employees and execute initiatives to create a productive, transparent, collaborative and empowering work environment. We would like to specifically address your concerns and comments. A10 Networks CTO has over 25 years’ experience in the networking industry. He is well respected in the networking industry as well as amongst his peers and the employees at the Company. He leads his organization with trust and respect. A10 Networks employs an intelligent and talented team who work independently and relentlessly to meet quality standards and due dates. We promote experienced individual contributors within their job classification and department, to new positions within other departments and also into management positions. All employees are offered the opportunity to apply to any of our open positions worldwide. Our policies conform to the philosophy of equal employment opportunity. A10 Networks product management team shares our product roadmap each year with all engineers typically in January, and reviews status and updates during all hands engineering meetings throughout the year. Our revenue is a result of existing products as well as new products for security and cloud. Working on new products while sustaining the existing product portfolio is always challenging in terms of resources, schedules, and quality. Some of these challenges we overcome by our tenacity and collaboration, and some still remain for us to improve upon. A10 Networks provides a very competitive total compensation package to all our employees. We market our competiveness annually using the data available through the Radford Technology and Sales Surveys. Our Corporate Incentive Program provides the employee’s the opportunity to earn a bonus semi-annually and we continue to pay 100% of each US employee’s benefit premiums, which have significantly increased over the years. A10 Networks is able to attract and hire people from various sources including our competitors, top companies in networking and security industries, and employee referrals. In 2017, our engineering team experienced a very low voluntary attrition rate. A10 Networks initiated its internship program in 2013 to support our investment in R&D and innovation. We focus our efforts in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. We hire 15-17 interns each year, which is approximately 5% of our engineering workforce. We are very proud that our internship program is a huge success! A10 Networks allows its employees flex time therefore some employees start their day early morning and depart prior to dinner, and others arrive late morning and depart in the evening. Company sponsored dinner is served at our corporate headquarters every evening to all employees unconditionally as a convenience and perk. Employees are not required to attend dinner and work after dinner. Again, thank you for taking the time to provide your review. Sincerely, Laurie Buzzell Vice President, Human Resources
