Pros

I like my coworkers. The benefits are good. It’s a nice building.

Cons

There have been a lot of promises made by new leadership. It was once a hopeful environment. Now it feels that no one trusts leadership. Nothing is planned out properly. There is no communication among departments or from leadership down. You can be in someone’s good graces one day, but fired the next. Turn over is very high. The environment is very negative. There are whispers in the halls about job opportunities elsewhere. AFS has great potential but seems to be going in a very bad direction. Client retention seems like the lowest priority.

Thank you for your feedback. As a current employee, I can tell that you care about the success of the organization, as we all have a part in building our culture at AFS. Often times when there is turnover, employees do not know the entire situation in why someone is leaving, as they shouldn’t, with a confidential HR team. I encourage you to share feedback with your supervisor or a member of HR of ideas for improvements on morale. We recognize that when a company experiences change, it can cause uncertainty. The only way to combat this is to be part of the solution and I personally welcome any ideas and will listen. Client retention is currently at the top of the priority list at AFS, per our leadership team.

Pros

There are absolutely no pros to working here. It has been an awful experience from day one. I am glad to be gone soon.

Cons

The pay is awful, the benefits are awful. So expensive to add dependents. There is a ton of drama, policies and procedures change on a daily basis. I honestly have had a horrible experience with AFS and so have many of the folks I have talked to. I truly do not know one person who is happy here.

Pros

If you want to be exposed to the corporate world this is a great place to be. I work in a professional environment with great people that enjoy what they do. I can't speak for other departments but my manager gives constructive criticism and provides feedback I can actually use. We work hard and we are a team. There is lots of room for advancement within the company and it doesn't take several years to accomplish it. Work hard and keep a good attitude and the right people will notice! This company is about growth and I love that more than anything. I left the comfort of my previous job I had been employed with for 2yrs and I truly believe that I have made a good career move here at AFS.

Cons

I'm still getting use to the micro-management. Everyone has different styles of managing but this was never one of mine when I was a team lead at my previous job. However, I'm the newbie and I understand how important it is to prove your worth! I am not easily broken!!

Thank you for providing this feedback on AFS. It’s encouraging to hear about your positive experience. You are absolutely correct about working hard with a good attitude- it goes a long way! It sounds like you have a good working relationship with your manager, so you may feel comfortable giving the feedback about feeling micromanaged. You are correct that every manager is different, however, we try to coach our managers to allow employees to “own their business”, if the employee is in an autonomous position. I value your feedback about employee appreciation and completely agree. This is an area that will always be a focus.
