Pros

Downtown progressive company. Free coffee?

Cons

Major changes in the IT side of the house and spilling over into other areas of the business. AGILE/SCRUM team methodology has turned into a cult, some exciting work to be done but there is no longer an upward path of progression. You're there to work in a loud/noisy environment, and if you don't like it or you don't perform well you're fired. Be prepared to be under the microscope now by not just your boss, but your peers as well -- since everyone works at a bench in wide open room. No privacy, reduced opportunities.. I'm not sure this is the "best employer in Canada" anymore. Best employer in Bangalore maybe?

Pros

There are more learning opportunities at this company than many other companies. There is also an in-house gym, subsidized cafeteria, bi-annual town halls with the whole company and lots of paid lunches. There are great people who work at this company. If you have the good fortune of working with them this can mean a real difference.

Cons

This company supports a "Mean Girls" culture. If you don't create the important strategic relationships required you'll find yourself hitting a glass ceiling within 3-5 years of working here. This company is highly political with only a handful of leaders that control most of the career movement within the company. This results in promotion based on favoritism as opposed to skill and ability. Most frustrating is that this company talks a good game about professional development but when it comes down to it, the leaders do not stand by their word. As a result, this company is quickly losing market share and suffering from lack of innovation. Tired ideas win out here and no outside opinions are welcomed.

Pros

The people are what make this place great. Anniversary miles, company offsite prize draws, 2-week sabbatical every 5 years, 2 personal days on top of vacation days per year and work from home program (frequency depends on your department head and manager though).

Cons

Workforce is shrinking meaning more work to take on for everyone. Work-life balance is okay depending on your role or department, promotions are hard to come by, compensation is okay but you have to really fight for what you deserve. Some people really know what they're doing. Some are lacking and pass the buck on to you when you have your own work to do.
