Pros

I’m very grateful for the experience. Yes, you can dispatch elsewhere but you get a lot of everything. From 911 calls in multiple counties, to inter-facility transfers where you learn nurses and coordinators by name. You bond with the people that have the same level of understanding, I come here everyday, because I genuinely enjoy helping people.

Cons

Unfortunately, there are far too many people with the “Dispatcher Disgruntle”. You cannot possible work rotating twelve hour shifts with people who’s idea of moral is seeing who has a worse home life. Management does not communicate with employees, trainers, or shift leads. I quickly noticed that instead of “changing” things for the greater good, it became whatever the newest supervisor’s idea of what is best looks like.
