Great Growing Company with growing pains
Pros
I love the breadth of work challenges I get from AVI-SPL, and overall direction the company has taken in the market place.
Cons
Information and Operational silos - I find too often that information required to complete tasks is held in isolation by some other system or person. An example would be PO/SO problem queue info - I get Knowledge Sync emails when a product I've release has an issue, but it does not give me enough info to find who to talk with about the issues, or particular information. I have to go dig and ask several questions just to get to the right person. All info regarding project setup/billing/ordering/SO's/PO's/ contract should centrally compiled and presented is simple screens. I spend too much time finding information so I can deal with it as opposed to actually acting on it the issue. Company initiatives, be it product (Symphony, etc), processes, training etc, does not filter down to local office very well. I find all too often, sales folks are out selling great new ideas from the company, but when it comes time to execute at the integration level, people do not possess the know-how to process the orders, etc. It all seems a big "magic mystery" sometimes.
