Hello and thank you for your feedback. We have undergone a recent restructure to our clinic as well as school and our staff are dedicated to creating differentiated learning for each and every one of our students. We have also created a pay scale for all positions to create equitable pay among staff and stay competitive in the market as a non-profit.

Pros

Students are lovely and make the job more bearable.

Cons

The HR department acts solely in the interest of the administration rather than being a conduit between administration and employees. Additionally, HR frequently makes errors in employee pay, leading to missed bill payments, etc. Administration uses fear and bullying tactics against employees rather than attempting to talk to employees to resolve internal issues. Students are frequently underserved due to a lack of organization and a lack of employee retention. Male staff who have sexually harassed co-workers continue to work at the school, and male staff are chronically paid more than female staff (a baffling occurrence from an organization run by women). Yearly performance reviews have no bearing on raises. More than half of the academic curriculum is taught using online resources rather than being taught by instructors leaving students who are not adept at using technology stranded for half the time in their classes.

Hello and thank you for your review. APL has undergone an almost complete overhaul in the structure of the academic program and clinic services since spring of 2020. Wages have significantly increased for staff across the programs, and we have developed a pay scale standard across all positions. Metrics for evaluations have also been revised and are being used with fidelity to ensure the highest quality staff training. APL does not tolerate harassment of any kind. We also have a new Executive Director as of June 2020 who hired an experienced HR director. During our most recent staff sentiment survey over 85% of staff were highly satisfied with the HR director.

Very low wages, under-developed HR department, lack of transparency, lack of communication from administration in decision-making process, school is located in a public space, favoritism, nepotism, possible insurance fraud, other questionable financial practices and encouraged dual relationships

Hello and thank you for your response. We are happy to hear that the clients, staff and environment were a positive experience for you! We have undergone an almost complete overhaul of administration and some restructuring in both the school and clinic. We have been working very hard in the 2020-2021 year to be both transparent and equitable in all aspects of the organization. We have developed and been using a pay scale for all positions based solely on education and years of experience since June of 2020. We are also happy to report that all audits conducted have passed with flying colors!
