Pros

The video gaming entertainment industry is growing, and at the time it was exciting to get my feet wet and support the Marketing department in its various endeavors. I had autonomy in some of my responsibilities and barely felt micromanaged. I had friendly and supportive superiors, the executive team was knowledgeable and the employees were fun to get along. I learned a lot about the industry, and direct marketing. However, it only lasted for so long.

Cons

The hiring team really misled me when they recruited me for the position. I thought I was going to be an integral member of the Marketing department, and instead, I felt like an assistant TO the Marketing Coordinator. They also failed to let me know that there would be manual labor involved, at least 50% of my time, weekly. I'm sorry, but that's not what I went to school for, and not what I want to concentrate my valuable efforts in. Towards the end of my employment, I felt that I was doing more administrative and miniscule tasks than valuable marketing efforts. My responsibilities with social media were extremely limited and nothing to brag about and I was never given the opportunity to handle tasks that would eventually get me to a manager position, such as managing the department budget. My two superiors would never get me involved during important talks. Assistant Marketing Coordinator? More like Assistant TO THE Marketing Coordinator.

Pros

Leadership is truly willing to help you learn and grow; I came from a place with stagnant growth where they weren't willing to promote from within. I was encouraged when interviewing and everyone seemed like they genuinely liked working here and a lot of people have moved up within the company. People here are so nice. I get along with all of my co-workers and like coming to work.

Cons

Rapid growth means a lot of work to do and always changing priorities. Must be willing to adapt to work in an ever-changing environment. Coming from a place on the downswing it was hard to get used to at first. Keep an open mind, work hard and you'll find success here.

Pros

As someone who enjoys a work environment where there is constant growth, change and opportunity to explore brand new projects and initiatives, I've really enjoyed my time working at Accel. Creativity is appreciated and encouraged, The team as a whole has a great attitude, they make work fun and the days go by quickly! Flexible environment, so you can actually have a realistic work/life balance here while still feeling challenged and engaged every day.

Cons

If you don't enjoy a faster paced work environment, or you like more structure to your day-to-day, this might not be the best place for you. That comes standard usually with growing start-ups!
