Pros

This is a fast paced and demanding company, no doubt about it. This is my first (paying) job outside of college. I was hired in December, and was promoted within six months. With that in mind, I can say this is a place where they are interested in developing new talent. They are even eager to pay for training and courses to help me develop my strengths. Further, while Acelero is demanding, as long it's clear you're working hard, management is generally pleasant, accommodating, and supportive. Acelero and its partner company Shine are growing exponentially, and due to that, there is constant reorganization and change. While the reorganization means you have to have strong sea legs, those changes can often lead to new career opportunities. During your first year, you get almost 4 weeks of paid time off, and that number grows the more time you spend here. The benefits are not too shabby either: 401k matching, medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts and more. Also of note, while there's always room for more, there are a significant number of women in upper management. Bottom-line, I would recommend Acelero, you get in, get your hands dirty, and learn a lot.

Cons

A lot of people work from home in the NYC office, so there is not much of an office culture.

Pros

Great time off- nearly 5 weeks during the first year, 401K with match (what Head Start program offers this?!), Great, smart, driven people to work with, the values say it all- Open Communication, Teamwork, Data driven decision making, Proactive Problem solving, and Follow through- this is how we operate. Personal and professional development is encouraged. Coaching and feedback is constantly provided.

Cons

It's demanding, no doubt, but if you are serious about taking on a task as big as closing the achievement gap, it has to be- that doesn't come by sleeping on the job. We work very hard and Acelero expects a lot from it's employees. It's not a bad thing but those that are looking for just a job might see it as a negative versus the people who really want to make a difference will thrive.
