      ASR - I have very good DM in the Assisted Sales program but that is not the norm.. Do not do any merchandising assignments for this company because they are completely unorganized and unhelpful. The pay for merchandising is terrible and the will send you to Tibuktu with the wrong tools then expect you to go buy the appropriate ones that were suppose to be sent to you in a kit when you might be over 50 to a 150 miles from home. They have like 5 recruiters in Akron ( their home ) to try find candidates for the whole USA. Then the recruiters dump all these work orders on the DM's which is not their responsibility. The DM's job is to interview, train, and manage their territory. Headquarters at Actionlink had better hire more recruiters, treat there DM's better, or more DM's will continue to quit and upper management like what has been going on in recent weeks. If you smart apply at MarketStar or MarketSource.

      Pros

      You get paid every two weeks and direct deposit is available. A good temporary job during the holidays. Just pray you have a good DM.

      Cons

      Upper Management seems totally unorganized and seems to want to play the blame game. You need to spend money to make money. You basically have a systematic breakdown. A company trying to do things on a shoestring budget so upper management maximizes their bonus rather than use the money to run the programs the right way.

      Pros

      Beats being unemployed. Everything is on the cheap. On-line training is puerile and very inconsistent. Morale is not good. You are expected to supply everything: internet, computer, printer, car, gas, smartphone and/or camera. Reps are disposable here. Don't quit your day job.

      Cons

      Pay--recently gave everyone a 10% cut in pay "to be more competitive" with the other rep companies. Went from $10 an hour to $16.xx. Now it's the Christmas season and they are hiring new bodies at $18 an hour--but did not restore our pay cut. Human Resources--spelled nepotism

      Good money for part time work but there are real pitfalls.

      Pros

      If you're a merchandising rep, you have some control over your schedule. Assignments come down and you usually have a week to do them. Hourly rate isn't bad. Most of the managers dealt with over nearly 10 years were great but there are some that are not so. The control over my schedule and working mostly weekends for assisted sales allowed me to be the primary caregiver for my elderly mother.

      Cons

      Travel reimbursement stinks, be prepared to put a decent amount of your money back in the tank. Instructions for assembly of displays can be a nightmare. Some projects are really really complicated. Need to supply your own tools and the list keeps growing. Rep. Support Line is pretty much a joke. Be prepared to be on your own and deal as you can. If you're working assisted sales, you need to really like Walmart! Regular revolving door as far as management is concerned, here today, gone tomorrow and it might be a week before you know who to contact. Oh and we all took a 10% pay cut 01/14 so we could be "more competitive". Still didn't see any work for months! My last assisted sales manager is/was/has been a total rock! He's became a good friend as well as a great boss!
