Pros

Liaising with well-known ad agencies, non-profits and gov't agencies is cool. Some of these campaigns are very well-known, so it's exciting to have this on your resume.

Cons

Office politics were extremely brown nosy. Pay was absurdly low. VPs in particular are extremely cliquish. I echo another review below about questionable results. Generally, I don't think it's appropriate that the government is seeking to influence behavior change through advertising - very paternalistic IMHO.

Pros

Colleagues are generally nice, smart and dedicated people. You get the chance to work on important issues.

Cons

Wide disparity between top management and the people who do the actual work. People leading the organization are out of touch. Some have worked here for so long that they've developed unhealthy working relationships. Depending on which department you're in, be prepared to be over worked. While most people who work here are generally nice, some are not and can be gossipy, controlling and bullies.

Pros

- staff that is genuinely dedicated to their mission - huge growth opportunity for those early in their careers; the access to outside companies, talent and projects is unmatched - supportive community and environment, with people you are proud to call coworkers and enjoy spending time with (especially in DC)

Cons

- typically, promotions only occur when a slot is opened up as opposed to merit-based. This isn't because talent isn't acknowledged, but has more to do with their structure. That said, leadership does make an effort to reward talent in other ways, with continuing education, thought leadership, public speaking opportunities, etc.
