Pros

I've been with Affinity for a year now, and I continue to be impressed every day by the talented, empathetic, kind, intelligent people that I get to work with. This is the first startup I've ever worked for that has core values written down that they held themselves accountable to. Every person I've interacted with has been so genuinely passionate and caring, willing to step in when they're asked to help—and even stepping up when they haven't been asked to—and wanting to see the team succeed. The organization has grown exponentially in my tenure, and even through the growth and growing pains it was a comfort to be able to reliably point toward consistent team and company goals.

Cons

A growing remote workforce sometimes feels distant and separate, but this is more a natural result of organizational growth than a con per se. Typical startup pains: changing systems, building and rebuilding processes, and operating under the assumption that the ideal state of growth is one of controlled chaos. Nothing will ever be "easy" in this environment, but the growth that has come from that has been worth the struggle.

Work isnt overwhelming with a great work life balance.

Cons

Leadership is constantly leaving. And product has no idea what to do. They create features no one asked for and won't create things customers want.

I’m sorry that you find Affinity to be just “a paycheck.” I aspire to greater impact and zeal for and from myself and all of my Affinian colleagues. Product Management recently presented Affinity’s product roadmap to the entire company (on February 6). The presentation was followed by a survey which included a rating for how effectively the road map aligns with customer needs. The “net promoter score” for that road map question (as scored by the entire company) was 44 (which is high). This roadmap has been carefully validated with customers, particularly our largest customers. I’ve also personally shared our roadmap and strategy with ~30 customers (1:1) and another 50+ in larger presentations. The feedback has been consistently positive. Pros

Affinity offers great work-life balance and has an engaging product. The company is filled with hard-working, intelligent people who genuinely enjoy their work. While the benefits and compensation may fall slightly below the Silicon Valley market average, they remain somewhat competitive. The core customer base is loyal, contributing to the company’s stability and allowing Affinity to break even – resulting in fewer layoffs compared to other tech companies. The flexibility of remote work is also a significant advantage.

Cons

Affinity has faced some significant strategic missteps. A notable example is the decision to allocate substantial resources toward developing a Salesforce add-on, which has delivered minimal value. This initiative continues to hinder growth. Leadership remains heavily invested in the idea of moving upmarket, with Salesforce seen as the key to this vision. Meanwhile, competitors like Attio are capitalizing on this, leapfrogging Affinity's core CRM offerings in ways that have not gone unnoticed by our customers. The product team appears to have drifted from customer priorities, allowing technical debt to accumulate and slow progress. It’s disappointing for a company that once showed immense potential. Additionally, internal politics are creating barriers to innovation. Some middle managers are not well suited for their roles. Feedback is sometimes met with resistance or dismissive responses, contributing to a challenging environment. High turnover in senior roles has added to the instability. However, with a new CEO in place, there are signs of a possible course correction – though it's still too early to tell.

Thanks for your thoughtful Glassdoor post. I appreciate the effort and care you included in your comments. At the January all hands (Jan 16) and Feb all hands (Feb 7), we presented both the priorities for the year and the product strategy and road map. The Jan 16 all hands included an explicit discussion about the strategic role for A4S and was followed by a written document (emailed to the entire company) describing our company strategy, priorities and rationale in some detail. Those details are obviously not appropriate to share in a public forum such as this one. However, A4S has a clearly defined role and requires minimal resources to support. From a product perspective, our 2025 strategy is heavily focused on our core CRM (as you suggest). Our road map has been carefully validated with our customers. Our 2025 technical strategy also includes a thoughtful plan to address “technical debt”, similar to strategies that I’ve employed successfully with other B2B SaaS companies at this stage.
