      Company values do not trickle down

      Pros

      Corporate support and training are tremendous, I felt. In all steps of the corporate orientation process, they make you feel like they want you to succeed. My Nurse preceptor was great, patient, and wanted me to do well. My paramedic preceptor was the same at first.

      Cons

      -The clinical base lead, the paramedic, and the pilot were unprofessional. I have been a crew member in helicopters with approximately 1,000 hours of flight time, and I have never witnessed such unsafe and unprofessional behavior in a helicopter during my entire aviation career. The pilot would let the clinical base lead manipulate the controls during flight! This was only in Sayre, PA, which is part of Guthrie Air, a subsidiary of Air Methods.

      Pay is decent but could be better,

      Cons

      Many toxic bases. Poor maintenance and lazy mechanics. Old aircraft. You will be sent to a toxic base and they will make it very hard for you to leave so you will hate your job for months until you finally get sent somewhere else that probably isn't much better. Pressure to fly and to accept flights that go beyond your 12 hour shift.
