Pros

Some of the colleagues are nice people trying their best in a bad situation.

Cons

Please stay away from Air Apps. They do a great job of selling the company during the interview process. Everything looks amazing from the outside, like a modern, forward-thinking tech company. But the reality of working there is a total nightmare. It is nothing like what they promise you. The biggest problem is the leadership. Specifically the CEO, Filipe. He doesn't know how to manage people or a company. He constantly makes impulsive bad decisions that ruin everything we work on, and he refuses to listen to anyone else. Your voice is never heard here. It feels like there is zero focus on the company's well-being. The only thing that matters is his ego. There is a complete lack of integrity and honesty in how the place is run. Communication is non-existent. You are never told the full truth about what is going on. They even post fake job openings on LinkedIn just to make it look like the company is growing when they aren't actually hiring. The way employees are treated shows a total lack of respect. It actually borders on inhumanity. You are not treated like a person, just a resource to be used until you burn out. He has absolutely zero people skills and does not seem to care about how his chaos affects real people. Another huge red flag is the hypocrisy regarding remote work. This company used to be so proud to call themselves "fully remote" and used that to recruit us. Then they completely flipped the script and started forcing people to be in the office, or they would let you go. Working there took a massive toll on my mental health. It's not normal to work in an environment this toxic. There are plenty of companies that treat people with decency. This is not one of them. Stay away.

Looks good from the outside, but the reality is very different

Pros

• The people are genuinely great. Most colleagues are talented, supportive and easy to work with. • Salary is fine for Lisbon, but that’s honestly one of the very few positives left.

Cons

• The company talks a lot about flexibility, modern culture and being results-driven, but the reality is the complete opposite. Remote work was essentially taken away, we’re now expected to follow a strict 9–18 schedule, and everything feels heavily controlled. • The environment changed overnight. There’s a very clear sense of mistrust from leadership, to the point where they removed access to even basic Google Drive folders, which says everything about how little confidence they have in the team. • Most decisions are handed down as mandates, with no explanation and zero opportunity for discussion. When you ask “why?”, the answer is usually silence or something vague that doesn’t clarify anything. • The constant talk about “transparency” and “care for people” doesn’t match the day-to-day reality. It feels more like a PR message than something actually lived internally.

Pros

- yearly home office stipend - health care stipend

Cons

- The CEO is primarily focused on day-to-day oversight rather than shaping the company's vision, leading to a high degree of micro-management. - Despite promoting inclusivity, the company's leadership, particularly the CEO, has expressed indifference towards diversity, emphasizing a priority on timely and precise deliverables over fostering a diverse workplace. This is evident in the dismissal of the HR personnel advocating for cultural changes. - The company projects an image of seamless global collaboration and remote work, but in reality, their understanding of remote work is lacking. The company's roadmaps are disorganized, with the CEO determining estimates, and AI-generated projects are handed to developers without adequate clarification because the CEO generated them and he doesn't have the time to go through them, you will have to figure it out by yourself and be prepared wether he likes it or not. - They lack knowledge of agile methodologies, so they created a whole waterfall structure. They also don't understand that software projects have unpredictable issues that may delay the deliveries which is even more true when your work was generated by AI and you can't take doubts about it. Imagine your day-to-day work in a excel sheet with pre-determined jobs you must perform and finish each day. - Negative feedback is not well-received, and expressing criticism may impact future job prospects. - The CEO's family members hold key positions within the company. This familial connection may hinder effective resolution of company issues. - Unpredictable late-night work demands, including random calls from the CEO, may extend work hours until 3 am, particularly on Friday nights, until a desired product is completed. - Almost every employee in the company that is not CEO family-related is suffering from burnout, but they pretend everything is fine to keep their jobs. All the people who said something about it were dismissed.

Thank you for your feedback. Working at a startup is different and can be more challenging than a big, stable company. It's not for everyone, but it offers unique opportunities. We're proud of our diverse team, with people from 15 countries embracing all genders, origins, languages, and cultures. Achieving this diversity wasn't just a single-person goal; it was a collective effort from our entire company. The co-founders, Janina and I, are related, it's true. But like any founders, we're deeply committed to our company's success, ensuring we compensate our team well for their dedication and hard work. In a startup, the stakes are always too high not to take it seriously, and we're all in to meet those challenges head-on. Let's talk. Your insight is invaluable in shaping a better future for all of us at Air Apps. Filipe, CEO @Air Apps
