Pros

The people are amazing and very skilled at what they do, 40 PTOs, flexible and async working hours, insurance, monthly remote stipend, yearly fully paid get togethers, learning and development stipend. You would get to work with the latest technologies.

Cons

The company often changes its plans and tasks, making you work extra hours to meet tight deadlines. Even with 40 paid time off (PTO) days, it's hard to recover from burnout. There are contradictions in the company's values, like pushing for fast deliveries but taking a long time to make improvements for employees. Job security is uncertain due to possible layoffs, reason being restructuring at Air Apps. If you need a job to retain your work permit, it's better to look elsewhere.

Thank you for highlighting the strengths of our team and the benefits we offer, such as the generous PTO, flexibility, insurance, remote stipend, yearly get-togethers, and opportunities for learning and development. It's also great to hear that working with the latest technologies is a highlight of your experience with us. Frequent Changes in Plans and Tasks: Frequent changes in direction are causing stress. I will ensure that changes are communicated more effectively and that we commit to ambitious and achievable plans. Bringing in a CTO: Your advice regarding the appointment of a CTO is well-taken. A CTO can indeed play a crucial role in establishing realistic deadlines and fostering a work-life balance. The points you've raised are crucial for our growth and the well-being of our team. I appreciate your candidness and agree that our team deserves better. Your feedback is a call to action, and I am committed to making the necessary changes to ensure that our company offers excellent benefits and provides a fulfilling work environment. Thank you again for your feedback. Filipe, CEO @AirApps

Pros

Good Work life balance. They have a strong remote culture enabling you to be flexible on your working hours and greatly skilled developers to collaborate with. Salary might convenient but it is not competitive on the market.

Cons

The leading focus of the company is to control individuals rather than building a trustful collaborative team. Collaboration is not discouraged even tho it is promoted. Communication is fakely promoted, private messages are tracked and no one dare to share their true opinion in public by fear that it could be disaligned with the founders vision. Any private activities are tracked/blocked on the company's devices. No learning culture, side project are discouraged and sharing knowledge is not really happening. Career growth is miserable, I personnaly evolve to a higher rank and I have been given 2000euros/year, considering it was the annual growth of my salary I basically got scammed. What is it if not a joke in this market. I'm not even going to talk about the HR department either related or mostly controlled by the founders, Good luck if you go for it take care of yourself in this company you are alone you will havde to fight for what you deserve.

Pros

- Fully Remote (location independent) - Good Salary - 40 days vacation (but your national respective holidays are part of this 40 days allocated vacation) - Get together once a year in fancy hotel for a few days - At First Things Are Great... At First...

Cons

- CEO gives off a weird vibe & goes for goals that are questionable. - Hard to understand what the CEO wants in terms of tasks to be performed (other people I talked to within the company shared that same feeling of miscommunication and misunderstanding with him) - Questionable practices towards employees: A developer once had a laptop broken, the upper management told him to take days off from his reserve of vacation days while he gets a new laptop. (seems the management is so concerned about costs that they are willing to trample on the employee's holidays) - Random laid off for no good reason (a PO in charge of the backend was once fired because the CEO just decided to give the position to someone else, not necessarily because that other person was more competent than the current person) - Other random layoffs: 1 Week before Christmas a layoff of 14 people happened without an any explanation given (all the developers located in Brazil & France got laid off all of a sudden) - Increase pressure of delivery overall (on the Design, PO & Developer teams) - People feeling they mental health are affected negatively (personal remarks I've heard from colleagues) - An inadequate PO manager

I appreciate your candid feedback and recognize the concerns you've raised. It's important for me to address each point directly: Communication and Goals: The perception of unclear goals and miscommunication is a significant issue. Effective leadership requires clarity and alignment on objectives. I will work on improving communication channels and ensuring our goals are transparent and understood across the organization. Pressure on Teams: The increase in pressure and its impact on mental health is concerning. We must foster an environment where workloads are manageable and support is readily available. We have revised our projects and implemented KPIs to address both sides of the scale in 2024. Management Practices and Performance Assessments: Your management advice is well-taken. Continuous improvement in how we manage and assess performance is essential. We will explore additional training and development opportunities for our managers to ensure they are equipped to support their teams effectively. I am committed to making the necessary changes to address these issues. I encourage open dialogue and welcome any suggestions for improvement directly. Filipe, CEO @AirApps
