Pros

Meeting friendly and nice customers were the only thing that made working for this company pleasant. Exploring areas of Sacramento that I haven't been was nice also.

Cons

I really don't even want to give this company 1 star, but it's not allowing me any choice. My manager was horrible! I did preventative maintenance prior to taking a position with AireServ Sacramento as an HVAC Tecnician. This guy hires me knowing that I didn't have tecnician experience. He even hired me at a higher rate of pay. A week later comes back and lowers my pay. I was only trained for a week before being sent off on my own. I worked 12 hour days for my 1st week and the manager had a meeting with me afterwards and told me that he didn't want to pay me overtime for those days, and that he didn't feel it was fair to do so. Not going to fly in California buddy! After being sent out on my own, my manager said I could call and ask for help at any time. Whenever I reached out for help, he'd leave me at a customers home for hours with no response. I would troubleshoot and afterwards he'd come back and tell me how horrible I was and that he regretted hiring me. I would need a price quote and he would never respond and tell me what costed what. I asked for price sheet 4 times and never provided with one. Manager over priced and charged customers. Asked several times for paystubs, only to never be given any. Asked to have access to ADP to gain access to pay stubs and was always provide incorrect user ID and passwords. I had a truck full of stuff to that needed to be thrown out because we had no place for trash. My manager told me to go throw it in someone's trash. That's illegal dumping in the state of California. my manager then told me to figure it out and wanted me to use my money to pay and have it dumped legally. I was told I would get comped $40 monthly for using my personal phone as a work phone. My manager refused to pay me for using my personal cell phone for work purposes. I went over my data plan due to this. I saw mold in a young mothers place where I was fixing the unit. I advised the mother that it looked like she may possibly have mold growing and to reach out to her landlord because it was right near the unit, which means the mother and her young children were breathing in mold. My manager told me that under no circumstances am I to bring that to any customers attention. That's a health hazard, I can't legally not make mention of it. Not only would that be held against me, it would be held against the company. This manager was a joke. I was never given an employee contract, handbook for policies and procedures. I was never given any warnings. Manager comes to pick me up and insists that I read some document. I read it and it's a written warning about what he felt was a mistake in his eyes. I signed it and immediately he pulls out termination papers for me to sign. He hands me a final (personal) check. He did not provide me copies of the paperwork that he had me sign, nor did he give me an itemized deduction from my final check, nor did he give me an Unemployment handbook. All violations in the state of California. This company and this manager are crooked. They fail to train their employees or provide them the resources that they need to succeed within this company. I have not been terminated from a position since I was a teenager and my actions at the time. At 36, this is AireServ's fault due to training, poor management and their lack of professionalism.

Pros

Good place to get some field experience and to learn what to look for when you search for a new employer. Other than that there really isn't much.

Cons

Was hired a few months before I graduated Hvac school. Was told they have in house training, no pressure sales, friendly work environment, ect. Training was 3 days/week for an hour before work on up-selling and quotas. We had to recommend 3 up-sales on every call and if the customer had a unit 10 years or older then we were required to try and sell new equipment. There prices are outrageous, so much so I felt guilty even quoting anything. It's shameful to charge a little old lady on little income the prices they had. I had on a few occasions referred them to other companies who charged fai prices. I started looking for another job after 2 weeks. There are some good residential hvac companies out there but I found a great job in commercial hvac service. I'd never do residential work again.
