      Pros

      Knowing you are making a difference in the lives of children.

      Cons

      Be ready to be significantly underpaid and overworked. Did not feel valued or appreciated in my job. If you made a mistake, it was not welcomed as an opportunity to grow, but instead you would be severely micromanaged and made to feel incompetent in your job (even though I had a positive performance review prior). Manager used fear as a tactic to motivate team. The running “joke” was who would get fired today based on manager’s mood. Did not feel a strong sense of teamwork or collaboration. Felt teammates were pitted against each other to create toxic competition. Everyone knew who was the manager’s “favorites” and if you weren’t one of them, you received unfair treatment or were excluded from opportunities. Love the diversity and inclusion initiatives but feel there is a very long way to go, especially with middle management. Overall, I would not recommend ACH as an employer.

Speaking with their manager, contacting their area’s designated HR representative and calling our confidential compliance hotline are just some of the options available. We want to be an organization employees embrace and recommend to others, which is why we encourage employees to be proactive in engaging us when they have concerns. We’re always looking to be better, and we want employees to let us know where we can improve.
