Pharmacy Service Technician

Pros

Decent hourly pay. Very flexible work hours. No immediate supervison. They pay you mileage pay. Unprofessional management. Lack of communication between pharmacy and service technicians. Pharmacy has dropped the ball many times when asked to send out meds right away so facilities end up going without.

Cons

Since there's no immediate supervison when something doesn't get done or something goes wrong you are accused right away instead of being asked what happened like management should. Mileage pay is low compared to the IRS suggested amount and then they take of the first 20 and last 20 miles. On-call 24 hours Monday - Friday and every other weekend. Lack of formal training. I was trained for 2 days and then left on my own.

Pros

It's a desk job, the "starting pay" is 15/hr which is great when comparing the pay scale to retail.

Cons

Even if you hold an Associates degree, or bachelors... They start you off at the starting pay. IF the manager has known you previously from a different employer, they pay you a LOT more, which isn't fair. There are no real advancement opportunities. They do listen to employee concerns. And, a crazy "lead" tech runs the place, which she can't properly do.
