Pros

Overtime opportunities are basically unlimited, every day is a new adventure and the work is very rewarding. The kids are a lot of fun! Growth opportunities are also available quickly if you're a good employee and communicate your desires.

Cons

Low hourly pay. Plenty of training on job duties and workplace expectations, but not a lot around how to actual improve the mental health of clients (MHS aren't hired or trained to be mental health SPECIALISTS. Mostly just direct supervision and managing activities.) Huge disconnect between administration and direct care workers, it's like two different organizations. Communication is very bureaucratic as well.

Pros

The company is always making improvements and abides with the core value that the organization stands on. The management and the staff are always trying their best to help you to succeed and commit to help the youth-at-risk. You are encouraged to ask many questions and encouraged to reach out for help.

Cons

Sometimes it is short-staffed and the work can be challenging. It could be overwhelming if this is your first job.

Pros

Plenty of overtime opportunity. Resume builder.

Cons

This position is physically demanding and there is no work-life balance at all. I spent my off days mostly catching up on sleep. The hours really take a toll on your body. The work environment uncomfortable and tense due to favoritism and micromanaging. I never got positive feedback for my work. The unit opened in August of 2019 and no one has hired people specialized in working with autistic children to join the team, so it’s alarmingly understaffed. The staff was basically thrown to the wolves without the proper training for the clientele. The clients don’t have all the resources they need for their development so they suffer the most at the end of the day. Management is unsupportive to their employees and gossips about them.
