Pros

The agency has limitless opportunities for over-time, so you can work as much as you want. They also allow residential employees to work in the educational services at the school in an equivalent position, so you can work day time hours as well. The benefits are well taken care of, but the premiums have gone up.

Cons

You are at the mercy of DCFS as well as the clients. Depending on who you know, and how essential you are to the program, if a client lies about something you have "done", you may or may not be let go with no evidence of misbehavior. It is also a very "watch your own back" type of environment. It all depends on who you are close with and who you know. The agency has many flaws, as all residential treatment facilities do, so it's hard to say whether they are any better than any other agency. The biggest problem I have noticed overall is that employees are not compensated for the amount of stress and work that they have to deal with. The pay is the biggest con for this agency.

Pros

Allendale is located on 100+ acres in Lake Villa, IL. Their overall mission is a great one that helps kids and you get a part in that. There are a lot of nice people who work here and really do care about the kids they serve.

Cons

If you work her in a support services capacity, outside of direct care and education, then there may not be many opportunities for advancement within the organization. There can seem like a lot of red tape.
