Pros

Protection from poor leadership by union Pension Easy to move to other units within a year Pto better after one year 2 floating holidays (but they don't really advertise this- part of union contract)

Cons

Lower pay then other places Pto is broken in half (sick and vacation time)- previous position with Allina this was combined....makes no sense breaking this up Unsupportive leadership and ineffective middle management - unable to help get what floors need ( proper staffing etc)

Pros

The company's mission of taking care of the whole people and encouragement of community service is positive. Everyone is very welcoming, I was impressed when I first started. Good insurance, medium pay.

Cons

They hire managers to run the clinics that have no experience or have personal agendas and put them in charge of 2 or more clinics so employees dont have daily support and resources. The upper management has no idea what dysfunction and ineffective work flows exist. The president's goals for quality patient care does not match many of the clinics practices. Making money for the department trumps choosing procedures that would allow better long term outcomes for patients. Little chance for advancement.

A FOR PROFIT, not-for-profit

Pros

Great co-workers, nice facilities, benefits.

Cons

Leadership's focus is on the almighty dollar. As much as the lower level managers want to make it seem like "we are putting the patient's needs first" that's not true. The message is that the admission rate needs to be higher in the hospitals and the discharge rate needs to occur faster. Yeah... "not for profit" Allina Health. Don't think so. They expect you to work until your work is done, and work a bunch of OT for free, rather than hire the staff it takes to reach the goals they're asking you to reach.
