Pros

- Engaging work solving interesting problems - Lots of growth opportunities (especially as a more junior dev) learning from experienced coworkers and getting ownership over projects - Early stage startup with all the excitement of fast growth and opportunities to make meaningful impact - Great coworkers who are fun to work with, supportive, and encouraging

Cons

- Work life balance can be hard to maintain. Alloy doesn't force or expect anyone to work long hours, but some people at the company do, which for some can feel like pressure to work long hours too

Pros

- You’ll get to work on real problems and hear regular updates from customers on how you’re making an impact - Work is very self-guided - instead of being assigned tasks and deadlines, you can choose from a list of tasks (or add critical/workflow-breaking tasks as they come up - no need to wait until next iteration), and have lots of freedom in choosing how to approach open-ended problems - No office politics or autocratic leadership, you can always ask questions about why something’s a certain way or suggest improvements to existing code/workflows - Many opportunities if you want to learn skills in areas you’re interested in such as machine learning, devops, etc. even if you don’t have much prior experience - Friendly and flexible work culture, full of smart people who are willing to help - Many (optional) social events available

Cons

- General meetings are scheduled around Pacific Standard Time. We try to be accommodating and reasonable to everyone who has to attend, but those in other time zones may still occasionally (or regularly if you’re far away from everyone else on your team) have to be online at odd hours - Most of the work doesn't have any hard deadlines, but some do and sometimes it leads to crunch
