Pros

It’s center based and they have a strong sense of “teamwork”, so you never feel alone. Your BCBA will always be there if you have questions or concerns or just need a little backup. The people there make that job fun and depending on which BCBA you have you will always be heard if you have concerns about a client or another RBT. They prioritize work life balance and encourage you not to take work home. Pay is consistent. They have vision, dental and health.

Cons

You will be playing the role of not only RBT but also janitor! And I mean literally cleaning toilets. Lunch is only 30 minutes and you have to spend some of that time making your way to and from your sessions so in reality lunch is 15 min of down time or you will be counted as late. Being 2 mins late to work will be counted against you and you cannot clock in early. They keep bringing in more clients with little RBTs to back it up. Because of this, while SOAP notes are expected to be done in a timely manner, they give little time to do so. Pay is better and more consistent that most places in ABA as an RBT but it’s not a living wage. Only offers financial reimbursement if you are to become a BCBA not to speech nor OT.
