Pros

benefits, ergs, inclusion efforts, public outreach, and okay pay.

Cons

None of these awesome parts about Ally matter if I have a nonexistent work life balance due to Ally forcing us into a primary office environment. It takes my personal time away from my family for no benefit. If you can't effectively convey your culture virtually, you are failing as a company and failing as leaders.

Pros

The last year management has decided to get generous with bonuses and an extra holiday.

Cons

The right hand doesn't know what the left is doing. Management isn't interested in the suggestions of the majority of people. The complexity of tasks is super high for the pay involved. Depending on the location you could wind up in an ok situation, or an absolute cutthroat hell hole. There's no in-between.

Pros

Pay was pretty decent Pretty good PTO (20 days, bank holidays) Some decent co-workers Good resources for independent training Lots of teamwork with various teams in IT depending on your role Free parking in downtown Detroit (But it's a ~10 min walk to the office)

Cons

Middle management was terrible. I get the company's philosophy of "Look externally" but just because someone has 10+ years of IT experience doesn't make them a good leader. A lot of micromanaging and dumping administrative work on individual team members when they were already swamped. Outdated tech/processes Limited career growth Lots of red tape. Some tasks that would take you 10 minutes to do could take an entire day. Work life balance was non-existent. A lot of (last minute) late night meetings and working past working hours/weekends. Seemed like managers didn't value your time. Overall company culture was fine, I guess. There was nothing spectacular or noteworthy that I could think of.
