GMAC RFC was a GREAT employer. Not a great employer after integration with GMAC Financial Services and GMAC Mortgage

* Great Place to work if you like to punish yourself and be punished by others * Nice to know that chances are, you won't be working there very long and they will set you free fairly soon

Cons

Continual change of direction from senior leadership. Not staying the course very long on ANYTHING GMAC (and the market) have killed this company This business doesn't fit into the long-term plan for GMAC. It will likely be carved up and sold. Thus, if you are into security - there won't be any

Prior to merger with GMAC Residential, GMAC-RFC was a great place to work.

* Great people - 80% were extremely talented and dedicated * Above average compensation * Great culture prior to merger

Cons

* The people who determined that GMAC-RFC and GMAC Residential should merge seemed to do so without considering cultures and how the two companies differentiated themselves. RFC was "customer intimate;" Residential was supposedly "efficient." Management took a long time to address / communicate: what's the competency of the "merged company" - and also allowed/condoned poor behavior between the RFC/Resi folks.

Cons

Challenging market has caused a revolving door at the top, a clear direction of where the company is heading and how to get there is lacking.
