      Great Developers, awful upper management

      Pros

      -Trust for junior devs to do work without micro management -Lots of teamwork on projects, junior devs are great to work with -Interesting projects, gives you a lot to learn -Constructive criticism from middle management -Tech stipend and Healthy Living stipend

      Cons

      -Altamira makes us choose between Juneteenth and Indigenous People's day, the two national holidays celebrating people of color -Upper management is not transparent about many things, like salary adjustments/raises, promotions, available projects, etc -Upper management limits and discourages work from home, even on projects that allow it and have fully remote employees anyways -Company bid on a project that has shift work and expected salaried 9-5 employees to switch to it without having any of the requirements to start -Diversity committee is a team of 2 straight white people

      Pros

      Learning experience regarding setting expectations for ethical behavior in a contract-oriented, growth-driven, mini-corporate environment that will last a lifetime. Was allowed to assume lots of responsibility without the need to worry about the reward or having too many resources or management focus to capitalize on success with fundamental innovations.

      Cons

      Major lack of identity and focus coupled with an intense emphasis on acquisition, where execution and delivery are often an afterthought. Do not expect contractual obligations like IP agreements or royalties to be honored.

      • Senior management is very upbeat • Altamira makes an effort to contribute to and participate in charitable events on a regular basis

      Cons

      • HR chisels costs: laptops are not going to happen, hardware stipends are actively minimized, expect leave without pay should the government close • Business model: win contracts, sub them out, siphon off a margin, repeat • Senior management: not diverse, lots of flowery titles. One of them signs emails as "J$" • Three years after venture capital merger, morale and culture have yet to recover
