Pros

Pay for store leaders- you will make a lot but you will earn every penny Give back contribution Healthcare Bonus structure

Cons

No work life balance Unrealistic expectations in the retail climate today with hiring. Secret shops Gallup hiring tool is great but keeps you from hiring at the pace they want. Pay for BR is not a above average but they want above average talent. Payroll planning is reactive instead of properly planned Shipment and inventory is not properly executed for success in stores with expectations. Payroll does not adequately support expectations

Pros

I loved my team and was able to sell quality brand culture in our store. We did provide top notch service in our location and our team felt like family.

Cons

Believe everything you read. This is undoubtedly the most toxic culture you could work in. Your personal life will be used against you. You will be gaslit into believing the worst things about yourself as a leader. My old DM texted me about something a few weeks after I left and the pit I felt in my stomach seeing her name pop up reminded me why I left. Don’t do it.

Pros

They are open to hiring relatively inexperienced merchants.

Cons

Before I was hired, someone warned me that Altar'd State didn't practice what they preached, but I took the position anyway since the pay and opportunities seemed worth it at the time. Years later, I regret giving my energy to a company which profits off of their "stand out for good" perception, while abusing employees behind the scenes. You can argue that a company has to make tough decisions to stay competitive in this market, and you’d be absolutely right. However, the CEO insisting all employees pause for 2-3 hours every day to listen to his rantings, and then screaming at people for no reason – those aren’t tough business decisions, it’s just nonsense. The worst outcome of the abuses of this company is that while they happily profit off of their perception as a “Christian company”, they make all employees sign NDAs, so they aren’t held accountable to those values in their actual business practices. Job seekers, your mental and physical health are worth more than having this brand on your resume. HR folks, instead of offering a number to call in a reply to this post, look at the current complaints you have, and take them seriously. I sincerely wish mine had been.
