Pros

Made a lot of really great connections and people I will stay friends with.

Cons

Any negative reviews you see are true. Point blank. The company responds and has excuses for everything but I saw it all and they are just trying to save face. There are a lot of great people still there unfortunately they aren’t the ones making major decisions. I have seen the values of this company completely change over the last few years and inevitably made the decision to leave. I have not heard of one person no longer at AS that misses it. NOT ONE. I’m not going to drag on because so many other reviews accurately depict what it’s like but things they said that are true- long hours (especially as SM the only salaried leader it’s all on you anything extra), last minute changes and new initiatives that if you don’t get 100% right off the bat you are held accountable, staffing heaven forbid you have an open role because nobody can pass the assessment and that’s somehow your fault?, definitely favoritism, oh and random firing of half the company on the sly for “performance” even though they had no prior documentation. Also any positive comments or linked in posts were REQUIRED so if you see those know we literally had no choice.

Pros

They are a give back company that donates to hundreds of organizations every year. Pay is above average for retail. Good discount.

Cons

Where do I start? There is a complete and total disregard for work life balance. The workplace is emotionally and mentally draining and toxic, and not because of the store team, but because of the way upper management (at the district level) treats store leaders and the rest of the team. Employees are not given equal opportunity for growth. Employees are NOT treated fairly by upper management and they are ignored when they bring up valid concerns. Furthermore, even after taking concerns above the district level, to the corporate level, employees are still ignored and nothing gets resolved.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. For the sake of our associates, we do indeed care being a Great Place to Work - and because of the many dedicated, talented associates on our team, we've been able to maintain that standing again this year. Regardless, we want to learn about any experience at Altar'd State where things may not be going so great. As a current associate, please feel free to reach out to your District Leaders, VP or to the People Team at peopledevelopment@altardstate.com if you'd like to discuss your concerns in greater detail.

Pros

No pros at all but there is a 20 word minimum. I absolutely cannot think of one single good thing.

Cons

Zero work life balance. Terrible pay compared to other brands. If a company really cared about giving back they would not sell cheaply made over priced clothing made in sweat shops. The whole giving back thing is just a way of marketing to Christians.
