Very Upsetting Company

Pros

Pay is pretty good, but not competitive now.

Cons

This company has decided to recently implement a VERY restrictive dress code, and very misogynistic comments have been made by CEO Aaron Walters regarding this. Employees are not able to express themselves at all, and basic needs such as comfortable shoes are not allowed. This company sells crop tops and athletic wear but employees cannot wear it. Managers bully their employees and district managers who have been made aware do nothing to stop it. Altar'd State expects you to put your job first no matter what, even for brand reps who make way less than their higher ups. This company is very toxic and not worth working for.

Thank you for your feedback. Our current starting pay rates for part-time positions are $16 for our Brand Reps and $20 for our Guest Leads (keyholders). Our full-time Assistant Store Leaders start at $28.85 / hour and our full-time Altar'd State Store Leaders start at $80,000. We work hard to ensure our starting pay rates are among the best in our industry - if you have found this to not be the case, or if you'd like to discuss any of your other concerns in greater detail, please reach out to peopledevelopment@altardstate.com.

Pros

Some proceeds went to non-profit, for a very good cause. Always has amazing deals on clothes and the discounts employees receive are wonderful. Customer service representatives get great pay compared to most retail stores in the U.S.

Cons

Will work you hard from the minute you arrive, to the minute your shift ends. This includes constant pestering to stay longer than you have agreed upon as well if short-staffed but really depends on the store and who the manager is so this is situational. However, the people in charge of running the company are money hungry and care very little about their employees effort.

Pros

They’ll move you up quickly

Cons

They are so desperate for workers, specifically ASLs that they continue to throw out raises instead of listening to what needs to be changed. So many have spoken out about the awful (ptsd inducing) treatment that managers receive in these stores and yet nothing has been done about it.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are thrilled to offer our talented associates some of the best compensation in the industry, including starting hourly pay of $15 for part-time Brand Reps, $18 for part-time Guest Leads, $28 for full-time Assistant Store Leaders and $80,000 annually for our Altar'd State Store Leaders. As we've grown over the past several years, we've constantly invested in our people to help them thrive and to build a truly great place to work. In addition to the increased compensation listed above, this commitment has also led us to provide our associates with a Quarterly Bonus program, 14-Weeks of Paid Maternity Leave, $0 healthcare premiums for individual coverage, monthly paid time off to volunteer and 4-week paid sabbaticals for our full-time associates for every five years of working with us. Lastly, many of these programs have been provided as a direct response to feedback we've received from our associates. Through surveys, company-wide calls, and other methods, we ask for feedback regularly about what's working well and where we can improve. Thankfully, many of our associates have shared thoughtful insights with us that have helped shape the uniquely rewarding culture we have today - a culture that was recently recognized by Fortune Magazine as one of their 100 Best Companies to Work For. We sincerely appreciate your hard work while you were a part of our team and we wish you the best in your next endeavors.
