Pros

I joined Amazon during lock-down and have been home working ever since with the occasional office visit. It has been a wonderful company from day one and exceeded my expectations on the care they've offered to employees during this tough period. I've found all my colleagues to be clever, engaging and thoughtful people - determined to do the right thing and instill both quality and innovation in their work ethos!

Cons

The hiring process is an excellent and enjoyable experience (something you can rarely say about large companies!), however the onboarding experience was quite disorientating -- largely due to starting from home working and needing to find information online in internal systems. With my boss being based in a different country and timezone it also took a while for me to fully 'part of the team' but then I think that's true of any company you join.

Pros

Amazon has figured out how to consistently integrate its core values and principles into every element of the business and organizational culture. Many other companies simply post their values on the wall and only talk about them during strategy meetings or all-hands. The company encourages big thinking and smart risk taking. The environment inspires creativity and invention through the level of talent and focus on the customer. I am constantly in awe at the caliber of the people and culture here.

Cons

Because there are so many things going on at Amazon and the growth and rate of development is so fast, things change fast and it is hard to keep track of what is going on across the company. You have to be willing and able to quickly adapt to an ever changing environment to be successful here.
